Rebecca Jacques: St-Joseph-de-Beauce, QC, Canada; En ce moment, mon travail explore la région ou nous habitons, mon mari et moi, dans l'ouest du Nouveau Brunswick. Les paysages et la création reflètent l'identité d'une région et communiquent quelque chose à propos de ses habitants. L'immense rôle de l'agriculture dans cette province est mis en relief par le grand nombre de champs, de fermes, de petites maisons isolées sur le coin d’un terrain. Ce sont des personnes, très souvent, qui savent travailler avec leur mains et travail fort pour gagner leur vie. Mon travail vise à représenter en quelque sorte ce mode de vie, et la beauté qui s’y trouve. ...Currently, my work explores the area to which my husband and I recently moved in western New Brunswick. Landscapes often reflect the identity of an area and communicate something about its inhabitants as well. The enormous role that agricultural work plays in this province cannot be missed when considering the fields, farms, and many small, isolated farm homes tucked away on the corner of a property. People here, in general, know how to work well with their hands, and they work hard to earn their living. My work aims to reflect that lifestyle, and the beauty to be found in it.
